I Have Turned Down Many International Labels —Eddy Kenzo
Recently Vinka signed a management deal with Sony Music. Just about the same time, Irene Ntale signed with Universal Music Group, which also signed a deal with Lydia Jazmine.
And Eddy Kenzo has said international labels don’t exactly contribute a lot to the success of an artiste.
“We African artistes have our own style. So when we sign with international labels, we are selling ourselves to audiences that don’t understand our style,” he explained his decision not to sign with any international label.
He said he has been contacted by a number of big labels such as Konvict, Sony, Universal and Warner Music, but he turned all of them down because labels are restrictive.
