People Power Leadership dismisses as fake, Apology letter on Zigy Wine’s death
The political pressure group People Power under the leadership of Kyadondo East MP and singer Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine has dismissed a letter making rounds on social media, indicating that the group apologized to Ugandans for miscommunication, when they alleged that their member Ziggy Wine had been kidnapped, tortured and murdered by the state.
Ziggy who was laid to rest in Bushenyi on Wednesday, is said to have succumbed to injuries from an accident he was involved in, on July 21st.
According to a letter allegedly written and signed by Joel Ssenyonyi the People power spokesperson, good Samaritans tried to save the deceased’s life but rushing him to several hospitals but it was too late.
“I apologize on behalf of People Power, to the public, Ziggy’s family, our supporters and the country at large for misguiding you” the fake letter reads.
However, Ssenyonyi in a tweet says he never wrote such a letter and that it shows guilt of those responsible for Zigy’s death.
“This fake letter has been making rounds on social media. Please ignore it & treat it with the contempt it deserves. This obviously shows the guilt of those who are behind Zigy's death, they are so desperate to hoodwink everyone. We continue to demand for justice for Zigy Wyne” Ssenyonyi wrote.
According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the deceased died as a result of a motorcycle accident. Eyewitnesses paraded by police confirmed the same.
